Here at Calico Laine we have the autumn and winter covered. This year our ranges of Winter Fabrics are outstanding. Whether you're wanting to make a festive frock, some cosy cushion covers, or a lovely warm fleece, we have something for everyone. When you mention Winter Fabrics people instantly think of boring beige tweeds and unflattering chunky knits but this certainly isn't the case this year. Our stunning ranges of suedes, metallics and tartans are all very on-trend at the moment, so you can't go wrong. Every autumn we always get a delivery of beautiful new fleece fabrics, this year I've been spoilt for choice. I am particularly excited about the two new christmas fleeces I just love working with fleece, it's easy to handle, it doesn't need ironing and it dries in minutes. This makes it an ideal Winter Fabric for kids, like mine, that are constantly dirty. The fleece is also very versatile, I've used it for jackets, blankets and little sleeping bags but you can use it for all kinds. This Winter Fabric is very cosy and soft making it ideal for all the family, even the furry ones. I am just in the process of making my daughter a christmas knotted blanket out of the new bauble fleece. I made her older brother a festive duvet too. Christmas is a great time to make use of all our Winter Fabric ranges!! The catwalk is currently full of sparkling metallic garments, we love this look, especially with the festive season fast approaching. Our new Winter Fabric range has a beautiful new metallic line called moonlight. This is a super soft mesh which is woven with 2 colours giving a two toned look. The moonlight is very lightweight and has a 2 way stretch. It would make a beautiful dress for any Christmas night out lined with our lycra jersey. I always like to make dresses out of a fabric with a bit of stretch, the stretch means you can get a more fitted and flattering look. Both the moonlight fabric and the lycra jersey have a good stretch and they both drape beautifully making them an ideal duo for a large veriety of dress styles. If you're not this bold then the moonlight Winter Fabric would make a stunning festive wrap. I think a wrap made in the red moonlight fabric would add a bit of subtle glammer to any little black dress.
