The cold weather is slowly descending, and now the clocks have finally gone back meaning the longer nights are here at last. If, like me, you’re someone who prefers to spend these darker evenings cosy in your home with your sewing machine, then you might be looking for some Dressmaking Fabrics that would be suitable for projects over the coming chilly months. In today’s blog, I’ll be talking about some of our most popular fabrics that are great to wear in the winter.
Winter Fabrics - In this section of our website and store, we have a whole selection of beautiful wools, polyesters and other fabrics that are wonderful for winter wear. These fabulous Dressmaking Fabrics are perfect for lots of clothing types, from office wear to casual and even coats.
Fleece - A customer favourite all year round, all of our fleece is anti-pill; this means that it can be washed over and over again with those annoying little 'bobbles' forming on the surface of the fabric. We stock plenty of plain colours and a lot of patterns to suit everyone in your family. Fleece is a great choice for gilets and jackets, and even pyjamas as we come towards Christmas and New Year.
Melton - This lovely, heavyweight fabric is perfect for making warm winter coats, and works wonderfully when paired with our dress lining. Despite its weight, it isn't a hassle to wear and is bound to keep you toasty in the cold weather.
Brushed Cotton - These fabrics are wonderful for pyjamas. They are lightweight enough not to feel restrictive, but warm enough to wear during the winter nights. We have plenty of different checks available that include all sorts of colour combinations.
Have you used any of these fabrics yourself? Do you have a favourite Dressmaking Fabric to use for your winter projects? Let us know on our Facebook page - we love to hear back from our customers!
