Now that we are in the swing of the British summertime, we are receiving more and more orders from customers who are visiting us both online and in-store, are seeking out the perfect Wedding Fabrics for their big day. Here at Calico Laine, we stock plenty of items that would be a great choice for such an occasion, and in today's blog we'll be talking about a few of our fabric suggestions that are always popular among brides-to-be for their bridesmaids, flower girls, decorations and, of course, their very own special gown for their big day.
Chiffon - We stock several different kinds of chiffon available in all sorts of colours. Chiffon is a beautiful fabric and is a great choice for using as an overlay on a dress, skirt or even a bolero jacket. Many of the shades available from us compliment colours available in our other fabrics to guarantee you have a complete, tied together look. This is an extremely popular fabric for brides who want to achieve an ethereal look with their outfits and bridesmaid gowns.
Satin Back Dupion – This lovely fabric is reversible and features an interesting texture due to the intentional slubs in the weave. We have been complimented on our colour range by customers who have been pleasantly surprised to find more unusual colours such as peach, duck egg and cinnamon available from us, as well as traditional bridal colours such as white, ivory and cream. It is also a fantastic choice for your outfit if you are attending a wedding but not part of the ceremony, as it is always popular for formal wear.
Duchess Satin – These gorgeous Wedding Fabrics are definitely our first choice for bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses, and they are a staple customer favourite all year round. We have so many different colours available to choose from in our stock, from classic bridal colours such as white, ivory and cream to the more adventurous such as sunflower yellow, cerise and turquoise. It has a stunning matte finish and looks fantastic when made up.
Satin Back Crepe – Although this is one of our more lightweight formal wear fabrics, our satin back crepe has a beautiful flow to it and has the added feature of being reversible; so whether your preference is shiny or matte when it comes to fabrics, you can use either side and be pleased with the results. We also recommend pairing this fabric with a sheer fabric such as a chiffon or organza.
Microfibre - For brides who do not favour shiny Wedding Fabrics, we always recommend this beautiful fabric. With its matte finish and amazing drape, microfibre has a good weight to it but does not feel heavy when worn or when it is being worked with. We stock many plain colours including the traditional white and ivory, as well as several other bright shades and more neutral tones.
