One of the most important pieces of clothing you will ever own and wear is a wedding dress. It is the one day that everybody will be looking at you and admiring your outfit, plus you will have lots of photos to remember it, so it is important to have something that reflects your style. With dresses in the shops ranging from hundreds of pounds to thousands of pounds, many people decided to design and create their own wedding dress to save money. Here at Calico Laine we have a range of Bridal Fabrics to suit everyone's taste and budget.
Our most popular Wedding Fabric is our duchess satin fabric which is a luxurious heavy fabric which is most suitable for dresses with a more structured form. The duchess satin is a Bridal Fabric that does not have a lot of drape so would be suitable for an A line dress, a 50's style vintage look or a dress with a fish tail bottom. With a number of different bridal shades available such as cream, ivory, white, champagne and gold there is something to suit every skin tone. This Wedding Fabric is 150cm wide and therefore will suit all wedding dress patterns.
If you are looking for a satin but do not want something as heavy as a duchess Bridal Fabric we also stock satin back crepe and satin back dupion. These can be used on the satin side of the fabric or on the matt side of the fabric making them particularly versatile. The satin back dupion fabric can be used as an alternative to pure silk if you are looking to keep costs down as it has the same look as silk but is half the price.
Even though it has been a couple of years since the big Royal Wedding people are still being influenced by Kate Middleton's lace wedding dress. Some people choose to use a lace Bridal Fabric for the full length of their dress whereas others just have a small amount of lace on the top half of the garment or just accents on the sleeves. At Calico Laine we have two different lace Wedding Fabrics to suit two different budgets, a lightweight lace and a heavy corded lace. Both of these laces can be used as an overlay over other Bridal Fabrics to create a textured look and give pattern to your wedding dress.
