Many couples may choose to hire a wedding planner or venue dresser to take care of the finishing touches however, here at Calico Laine we know that you talented Crafters would rather get creative and it is certainly possible to hand make a range of eye catching wedding day accessories by using high quality, cost effective items from our Craft department.

We have noted the demand for Mr and Mrs/Just Married signs has not wavered this wedding season, and with good reason! The popular decor is quirky and versatile, with many wedding planners using them for a number of reasons such as a photo props, gift and cake table decoration, cake toppers and mostly top table decoration. To hire a basic Mr & Mrs sign you may end up paying anything from £25 upwards for an item that you will need to return straight after the ceremony. By using Craft materials to create your own wedding decorations you will be able to keep the items that you have lovingly Crafted and when your special day is over you can bring an element of love to your home by proudly displaying your creation as a reminder of the commitment you have made to each other. Our Craft department stock everything you will need to put together a range of gorgeous wedding day accessories including a beautiful Mr & Mrs or Just Married table top decoration which will be the centrepiece of your wedding breakfast and reception.
Equipment needed:
Basic Wooden Letters or Mr & Mrs sign

Flat back gems - any flat back gems will do however, we recommend Acrylic Jewels or smaller size Swarovski Stones
Good quality glue, we suggest using Gem Tac Glue
Precise Tweezers such as XCut Precision Tweezers
A bottle cap (to hold your glue)
A plastic bag or cardboard to protect your surface
15mm ribbon.
All items and alternative options are available from our Craft department.
Step 1 - Organisation
With Craft projects of this nature it is important to be organised and keep mess to a minimum. Lay your plastic or cardboard onto your work surface and place your letters or sign on top. Have your glue in your bottle cap and tweezers at the ready.
Step 2
Using your tweezers, pick up a gem and dab into the glue, then carefully place your stone into the desired position. The glue we have suggested is a strong Craft glue so you do not need a lot but as it dries clear don't worry if you have put on too much!
Step 3 - Positioning
In order to create an extra sparkly decoration to your Craft project, we recommend adding the gems in an irregular pattern rather than using uniform lines however for easier gemming do follow the outside line of each letter. The glue does not dry instantly so you are able to reposition the gems if necessary but try not to move them around too much as the glue will lose its stickiness.
Step 4
If you wish to use your sign as a hanging decoration you can add some ribbon however, your decoration will also work just as well as a free standing item.
