There are many different Dressmaking projects that require you to work within a budget, and so often your choice of what Dressmaking Fabrics you use can be slightly limited. In this situation it is important not to opt for using Cheap Fabrics, as this can more often than not, prove to be a more expensive option in the long run. Cheap Fabrics simply do not have the same quality as the Dressmaking Fabrics that we stock here at Calico Laine, and they can never produce the same results as would be possible, should you use a fabric of higher quality. Having access to higher quality fabrics when working within a budget is now possible, due to a fantastic range of Economy Fabrics that Calico Laine stock. We believe that quality fabrics are one of the most important parts to creating the perfect garments in your Dressmaking, and using Cheap Fabrics is not the way to give successful results. Cheap Fabrics simply don't have the finish, look or feel to give the best results possible, and more often than not, using Cheap Fabrics often means that garments just don't last. Our Economy Fabrics are designed to provide you with the best quality fabrics, for when you need to work under a budget. Here are just some of the Economy Fabrics that we stock, and why they should be used instead of Cheap Fabrics:
  • Economy Satin - This is one of our most popular Economy Fabrics, and is the ideal replacement for Cheap Fabric. It is a soft and lustrous fabric, that has many uses in Dressmaking. This is extremely good value for money, and is the best option available for using a Satin Fabric that is affordable, yet not a Cheap Fabric.
  • Gingham - The Gingham we stock at Calico Laine, is 115cm wide and is another one of our most popular Dressmaking Fabrics, due to its wide variety of uses for items such as school dresses, shirts, skirts and tablecloths. This Economy Fabric is again ideal for those who are working on a budget, but who want better quality and not a Cheap Fabric.
  • Cationic Chiffon - This is an Economy Fabric that really is of the highest quality. It has a quality look and feel to it, being an iridescnet two tone fabric. It is a perfect choice of Chiffon for when a budget must be adhered to, again without being  Cheap Fabric.
As you can see, when using Economy Fabrics, you do not need to sacrifice quality by using Cheap Fabrics. It is important not to use Cheap Fabrics to produce the best results. I hope todays blog has shown you that working with our Economy Fabrics can still produce the best results in your Dressmaking, and highlighted some of the reasons why not to use Cheap Fabrics.
