In the last few weeks I have noticed chocolate eggs creeping back into the supermarkets. This can only mean one thing; Easter is on it's way. Even though the kid's are off for half term now, it won't be long until the Easter holiday is upon us. Now is the time to be thinking of how you can celebrate Easter At
Calico Laine using craft and haberdashery.
Using gingham for Easter Sunday with Calico Laine
Many people sit down for a special meal on Easter Sunday, usually a lamb roast. It is a great chance to get together with the whole family and just like at Christmas; it is nice to have the table set especially for the occasion.
Gingham is a fabric that is always popular in the spring time. This Easter, it might be an idea to create your own tablecloth for the dining table. Gingham can be used to create a full tablecloth if you have a small table or it can be used to make a runner in the centre of the table. The cloth can be finished with a simple hem or bound with a ribbon or some bias binding.
Making Easter cards with the children
An easy and fun craft to do with your children is to make Easter cards to give to their grandparents or other family members. At Calico Laine, we stock packs of cards and envelopes which can be used as a base to your card. Peel off stickers, buttons, diamantes, ribbon and paint can then be used to decorate the cards. Throughout Easter At Calico Laine we stock several different peel off designs which are ideal for making festive cards. These include Easter eggs, chicks and Happy Easter sentiments.
Using Easter ribbon for decoration with Calico Laine
A tradition that is popular around this time of year is an Easter egg hunt for children. The children are given baskets to carry and are asked to follow the clues to find the eggs. To make the baskets feel more festive, you could use one of our many Easter ribbons to decorate the handle with a bow. We have designs featuring the eggs themselves, easter bunnies and chicks. These ribbons could also be used to wrap any Easter eggs you might be giving to adult family members; making it feel that little bit more special.
