When creating garments with various Dressmaking Fabrics, it can be necessary to line it with an anti-static Dress Lining for several reasons: adding extra warmth in cooler months, protecting the Dressmaking Fabrics, an it allows dresses to be worn without a slip. Here is the easiest way to attach a Dress Lining into your Dressmaking Fabrics:
  • With the side of the Dress lining that will touch the Dressmaking Fabric facing up, lay the Dress Lining out on a hard surface.
  • Placing the Dressmaking Fabric right side up on top of the Dress lining, using straight pins, pin the Dress lining to the Dressmaking Fabric.
  • Using a Dressmaking Chalk, trace the outline of the Dressmaking Fabric (or the Dressmaking pattern if you are using it) onto the Dress Lining, ensuring that it is kept straight to ensure a perfect match in fabric size and shape.
  • Then, using a good quality pair of sharp Dressmaking Scissors, cut around the line you have made with the chalk, to cut out the shape in the Dress Lining.
  • You are now ready to attach the Dress Lining to the Dressmaking Fabric, beginning by setting your sewing machine to a setting that gives a small stitch and ensuring to stitch close to the edge.
  • The garment you are Dressmaking can then be sewn together following the pattern you are using, and make sure the stitches visible from the Dress Lining are on the inside.
