One of the favourite Craft items that we stock here at Calico Laine is Acrylic Paint. We currently have a range of 60 different shades, so there are plenty different options when it comes to your art work!! Acrylic Paint is known to be fast drying and can also be diluted with water to thin it slightly. By diluting Acrylic Paint with water, many different finished effects can be achieved such as the painting either resembling for example a watercolour or an oil painting. It is possible to create many different characteristics with Acrylic Paint, that may not be possible to attain with various other types of media. Here are just a few features of Acrylic Paints for your art:
  • Quick Drying - Acrylic Paint dries in around 10 - 20 minutes which is ideal, as it is also opaque (when undiluted), so if any mistakes have been made, you can simply paint over them!!!
  • Waterproof - Once Acrylic Paint has dried, it is waterproof however 'craft-quality' would generally not be suitable for exteriors.
  • Flat Drying - Acrylic paint is not really used if a textured look is required for a painting, as it dries flat, even when layered up several times.
From experience I have found that Acrylic Paint is one of the best options for your art, even if you are a beginner to painting!! It is easy to mix and use, and there are many things that it can be painted on to. One of the best options, is painting on a canvas. This is a simple process and often gives stunning results depending on what sort of designs and pictures you are aiming to achieve!
