As a huge Liverpool fan I was quite excited to hear in the news, last week, that Luis Suarez was testing out the world's first knitted football boots. Knitted from Wool, the Adidas Samba primeknit is the next level in football boot design. The Wool provides a comfortable, 'second-skin' fit to the boot while still providing strength and performance.
The boot is particularly flexible and comfortable as the upper part of the shoe is created from just one piece of knitted yarn. This provides stability and strength which you find with traditional boots. To allow the wearer to tackle more challenging conditions, each strand of Wool is given a high precision coating that gives a guaranteed water resistant which can be important on the pitch. Due to the upper part of the boot being made in one piece means that there will also be less wastage in manufacture making them the most sustainable football boots in production. This means that in the future, Wool may become a very important part of sportswear manufacture.
Luis Suarez tested out these new boots made from Wool, in the clash against Manchester United at the weekend and it seems they did the trick as Liverpool were triumphant in a 3-0 win.
