Here at Calico Laine we have recently expanded our range of Tartan Fabrics with a number of new colours that may encourage you to find a new way to use a very traditional fabric.
With a woven pattern rather than a printed pattern our Tartan Dressmaking Fabric is excellent quality and at £5.99, great value for money. Traditionally Tartan is made from wool however our fabric is a polyester/ viscose mix which gives it a lighter feel while still being a good quality fabric. This spring/summer season we have added some brighter colours to our Tartan Dressmaking Fabric range including turquoise, cerise and pink. These new colours appeal to all ages but especially to teenagers and for kids and would make great pleated skirts or pinafore dresses for the younger children.
As well as these bright colours we have a selection of new grey tartans which mix grey tones with red, royal and black. These are more traditional with a modern twist and would make great fashion accessories or could even be used in the home for items such as cushions.
As well as Tartan fabrics we also stock a range of  Tartan Ribbons in traditional clan patterns which can be used to accessorise your outfit or edge your home decorations. These are available in 7mm widths up to a width of 70mm and come in 25 metres on a roll. Perfect for any tartan fan.
One of the the most popular uses for Tartan Dressmaking Fabrics is to use it to make in to skirts or even dresses. These items are very popular at present and very much in fashion. The great thing about making your own dress or skirt is that no one else will have the same design and it will be very unique.
