As the weather is slowly warming up, our customers are looking for lighter fabrics that are comfortable to wear in higher temperatures, perfect for summer and holidays they have booked for later this year. In today’s blog post, we’ll be talking about a few of our fabrics that we think are great both for dressmaking and for keeping you cool during the heat to come in the next few months.
Cotton Lawn – We have recently added a new range of colours to our cotton lawn fabrics, and they are already a very popular choice amongst our customers. They are incredibly soft and feel great against the skin when worn, and they are also worth considering as a dress lining if you want something other than polyester.
Linen – A customer favourite all year round, our linen fabric is available in a whole host of colours with something suitable for everyone. A lot of our customers like to use it to make summer trousers, and some have even used it for soft furnishings in their homes in rooms such as conservatories.
Cotton Poplin – Our cotton poplin is our cheapest cotton fabric available, but don’t let the price put you off; the quality of this fabric is wonderful and it is always popular with our customers no matter what time of year it is. It is available in numerous plain colours and is also a favoured choice of fabric for children’s clothing and crafts.
Cotton Plains and Prints – Whereas the cotton poplin has a cotton/polyester make-up, our cotton plain fabrics are 100% cotton, as are our cotton prints. They are great to use for sun dresses and skirts, and with so many different colours and prints available, you’re bound to find something you’ll like.
Have you ever used any of these fabrics in any of your own dressmaking projects? Be sure to take a photo and upload it to our Facebook page – we love seeing what our customers can come up with!
