Fabrics which have an element of Stretch to them are not only comfortable to wear, they create lovely body and drape really well! Here at Calico Laine we aim to bring you the biggest range of fabrics of the highest quality to make some wonderful Dressmaking creations. Depending on the type of garment you are wanting to create, there are various choices available to you.. Bi-Stretch is a very popular fabric which is perfect to make into suits, skirts, trousers and many more! It has a 2 way stretch throughout the fabric, but is not overly stretch so will give a beautiful shape. Bi-Stretch is pretty wide at 150cm (60") and come in a lovely choice of colours too! The great thing about Bi-Stretch is that it is crease free which not only saves time on the ironing as many school trousers and skirts  are made from this fabric! It is made from 100% polyester and really is fantastic value for money for such a lovely fabric! We have recently added the Memphis Bi-Stretch to our range, which is a highly sought after fabric. It will create beautiful comfortable clothing and is extremely versatile as it can be made into an array of different garments! Lycra is one of the first things that come to your head when thinking 'stretch' Our Lycra is wonderful quality and is perfect to make into clothing, dance wear and sportswear as it is so stretchy. The colours available are stunningly rich and have a matte shine to it. Lycra is also 150cm wide. One of our biggest ranges is our selection of Jersey's. There are a few choices within this range depending on what you want to make up. In the range we have: Cotton Jersey- This is made from 100% cotton and is a T-shirt weight. It has an element of stretch to it and can be made into any sort of light weight clothing such as maxi dresses, tops and skirts. Viscose Jersey- This is a very stretch, drapey jersey which again is a lightweight fabric. Lycra Jersey-  This is a superb quality. It is made from 80% polyester 20% Lycra and has a 4way stretch. It drapes beautifully and is lovely and soft to the touch. We also have some lovely Printed Jersey's with stunning unique designs so come and have a look around and see if we can inspire you with any designs that we may have! Looking for a sheer stretchy fabric? Our range of Body Stocking is perfect for dance wear as it comes in a choice of skin colours and can be used as tights, sleeves and even in cut out parts of your garments which is right on trend at the moment!
