Whether you are a keen seamstress or just a beginner you will need a good sewing kit. You may have a sewing box filled with bits and pieces or just standard items such as needles and threads but either way a sewing box with sewing accessories is essential.
If you are just starting to get into dressmaking you will need to fill your sewing box with standard items such as hand sewing needles, machine needles, thread, dressmaking pins, safety pins and a tape measure. If you are a beginner it is also probably useful to have a quick un pick  as it is more than likely that a few sewing mistakes will be made. With this item however mistakes can easily be rectified.
If you are aiming to start easy dressmaking, some form of tailors chalk will also be useful to mark your patterns with. There are a number of versions of this that are available including traditional tailors chalk triangles, pencils and chalk wheels.
More advanced dressmakers might like to add some extra items to their sewing kits including a Professional Tape Measure which reaches up to 100", a Beeswax Card to strengthen thread and an Arm Pin Cushion which is perfect for storing your pins as you are adjusting garments for alterations. As well as these items there are also a range of pins for the more experienced dressmaker, such as sequin and bead pins, quilting pins and bridal and lace pins.
If you are looking to just do the odd repair here and there or are going away on holiday and might need some spare thread to sew on that button that just keeps falling off, our Sewing Kits are ideal. These are compact boxes or cases usually filled with a small pair of scissors, a few different coloured threads, spare shirt buttons. needles and safety pins. Our most popular of these Sewing Kits are the Pocket Size Sewing Kit and Travel Sewing Kit.
