Satin Fabrics are a real personal favourite of mine when it comes to making your own dresses or skirts. There are always so many different colours and qualities of fabric to choose from. Here at Calico Laine we offer a number of satins in various widths and colours. In my entry today I am going to talk a little about the range of satins we offer and maybe offer some advice on how to use them.
- Duchess Satin: In my opinion this is the best of the best. I love duchess satin and have used it many times and always had good results using it. Our range of duchess is 150cm wide and comes in over 20 colours :-)
- Economy Satin: This is an excellent entry level fabric that we have sold for years. It has many uses in dressmaking and can be used for dresses, skirts and sometimes even as a dress lining. This satin is also 150 cm wide.
- Stretch Satins: New to us this year, this is a duchess satin quality fabric but with a slight stretch. A lovely fabric that would be ideal for that special dress.
- Satin Back Crepe: A narrow fabric that is 115cm wide. This satin is double sided, meaning that you can use both sides of the material. It has a smooth satin finish one side and a beautiful crepe finish on the other. This also comes in a great choice of colours.
