It is that time of year when all the school children are taking part in school nativities and plays for the festive season. We often have parents and teachers visiting our retail store and online shop looking for fabric to create costumes for the play and as they are usually on a budget they are looking for the best value for money materials. One of the best fabrics to use for this project is Satin Fabric and in particular economy satin. Economy satin is the cheapest satin we stock and is ideal for creating stunning costumes and backdrops for stage shows.
Economy satin is a lightweight Satin Fabric made of 100% polyester. Available in around 20 colours, this fabric is great for creating costumes for all different children in the play whether they are being Angel Gabriel or the Innkeeper. At £2.99 per metre it is great value for money and if you are buying a large amount of this fabric the price is reduced further making it even more cost effective. Due to it being a lightweight fabric, it drapes well and this makes a great fabric for backdrops and curtains on a stage. It can be gathered easily as a curtain by adding a curtain tape to the top edge of the fabric creating a sumptuous and luxurious look to the stage. Economy Satin Fabric is a shiny fabric and will catch the light well and add to the luxury look.
If you are looking for a more sparkly effect to your Satin Fabric, our sequin satins are perfect. These would be great for Christmas play outfits, especially angels and stars as they have sequins glued onto the front of them already so do not need to be hand embellished. At £3.99 a metre they are slightly more expensive than the economy satin however they are still excellent value for money.
