When it comes to Dressmaking we all have our favourite fabrics that we like to work with. One of the most popular range of dressmaking fabrics are the satins.  In my blog entry today I am going to talk a little about our great selection of different satins. These include: Velour Satins: The latest section to be added to our website, these satins have a velour finish on one side with a satin on the other. They are all 150cm wide making them perfect for all your dressmaking requirements. Duchess Satins: By far and away the most popular satin for dressmaking, duchess is a lovely heavy weight material. It is made in Japan and is also 150cm wide. This is perfect for bridal wear, evening dresses and even prom dresses. Economy Satins: We aim to cater for all budgets here at Calico Laine. Our range of economy satins are a smooth, lighter weight fabric that can be used for bridesmaids and much more. Depending on your budget you can even use this fabric as a lining. Satin Back Dupion: I really like this fabric. It comes in new and really exciting colours. At 115cm wide it is slightly narrower than other satins but still works really well.
