I have always been of the opinion if you are going to take the time to make your own clothes then it is worth investing in quality material. You want your your dress or skirt to say something about you and by using good quality fabrics it really does. Today I am going to talk about the range of high quality dressmaking fabrics that we offer here at Calico Laine.
  1. Double Knit Jersey: This is one of my favourite dressmaking fabrics. It really is stunning. It makes up and washes extremely well and comes in a wide choice of colours. It is 150cm wide so perfect for dressmaking with. A new range of marl colours have been this winter as well.
  2. Duchess Satin: I really like duchess satin, it has been around for many years and just works on dresses. Of late there have been cheaper versions on the market that I don't really think justify being called a duchess satin. Thankfully though, our range of duchess are beautiful and perfect for a wide variety of dresses. They are made in Japan and are 150cm wide.
  3. Taffeta: Our range of taffeta comes from Germany and is a perfect fabric for dresses. As with the other fabrics it is 150cm and works well being made up on it's own or with another fabric. There is a great choice of colours available in this fabric as well.
The 3 fabrics I have listed here are some of our most popular range of Dressmaking Fabrics. We do however have many more different fabrics available here at Calico Laine and invite you to look around the website. Do remember that we offer samples of our fabrics so you can see the material before you commit to buy. I hope you have enjoyed today's blog and as always please do interact with us on here or via our social media pages such as Facebook and Twitter, Until next time, Calico Laine
