When we are updating our collections here at Calico Laine HQ, it is important to always keep and eye on upcoming trends both on the catwalk and on what celebrities are wearing and this is no different when it comes to Bridal Fabrics. Lace has been one of the most popular Bridal Fabrics since the 2011 wedding of Prince William and Katherine Middleton which saw the bride dressed in a gorgeous creation of Ivory Lace designed by Sarah Burton for McQueen. It seems that we were not the only ones to be blown away by Duchess Kate's gorgeous gown. Since the celebrations took place at Westminster Abbey many celebrities have followed Kate's lead by tying the knot in stunning Lace creations and following the breathtaking wedding ceremony between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West last week, we have already seen a surge in enquiries regarding our Lace Bridal Fabrics. It is no surprise to us that Lace remains one of the most sought after Fabrics in our Bridal Collection as it is classic and timeless and is available in a wide variety of designs and colour options. Whilst we anticipate that Lace will remain one of the most popular Bridal Fabrics this wedding season, here are a few other of our hot tips for Spring/Summer 2014:
Satins - always one of our most popular all round Fabrics, Satin is still huge this wedding season. Providing a cost effective alternative to luxurious Silk, our range of Satin Bridal Fabrics are perfect for creating stunning silhouettes and are popular due to the stunning high sheen surface and dull back. We stock a wide range of Satin Bridal Fabrics including the classic Duchess Satin which is ideal for structured gowns with classic full skirts and can be layered over other Fabrics including Dress Net to create a full, structured finish for a fairytale princess effect,
Chiffon - a plain woven, lightweight Bridal Fabric, Chiffon is a popular choice for a more free flowing design of gown for brides wishing to created a romantic, ethereal appearance. Chiffon Bridal Fabrics can be used alongside many other Fabrics to create drape and movement. If you are opting for an embellished gown, choose heavier Chiffon Fabrics such as Georgette which will stand up heavier embroidery and embellishments and are a very popular choice for stunning sari style gowns.
Taffeta - a stalwart of Bridal Fabrics, Taffeta is still a very popular choice of Bridal Fabric for not only the brides gown but especially for bridesmaid dresses which is why we carry this gorgeous Fabric in such a wide range of colour options, so you will not have to compromise on your preferred colour scheme. Popular with modern day brides for its soft, smooth finish and lustrous appearance, Taffeta is considered to be a high end Bridal Fabric and is perfect for brides who are aiming for a traditional, fairytale princess gown.
