Cotton Jersey Bias Binding
Bias binding is something that most people don't really think about in depth. I mean, bias binding is just binding...right? Wrong! Bias binding is an essential part of sewing, whatever your choice of project. Choosing the correct bias binding to match your project is just as important as choosing your fabric. The term 'bias' means the fabric is cut along the 45 degree diagonal grain of the yarns. This means there is much more stretch, allowing the binding to curve round corners and move with the fabric. While this does vary depending on the bias tape you choose, a cotton or polycotton won't be stretchy enough to work with knitted fabrics.
The team here at Calico Laine have researched and brought you a cotton jersey bias binding option to add to your haberdashery kit. This is a knitted binding, allowing it to have much more stretch to it. This is perfect for edging t-shirts, jersey dresses and knitted fabrics. Fiskars Printed Haberdashery Scissors
Now we all know that Fiskars make great scissors. Sturdy, sharp and long-lasting, what more could you want? If you are anything like me, I am a sucker for packaging. Anything pretty and printed, I am in. Fiskars have kindly brought us the best of both worlds. Great scissors with fun packaging and we cannot get enough here at Calico Laine. We have added two different general purpose scissor designs, and two rotary cutters to our haberdashery range and we are excited to see them fly out.
