Whether you are a keen dressmaker, sewer or seamstress there are always essential items that you will require in your sewing box. Today I am going to go through some of the most essential items that I have in my sewing arsenal!

Scissors - A real must have item, my scissors, get used every time I go in my sewing room. I have two pairs that I use and they are the 25cm Fiskars Dressmakers and the 23cm Prym Tailoring Shears. I have used both of these for some time and find them both excellent. I only use these scissors for sewing and cutting of fabrics. I find this way it protects them and saves them from getting damaged. The good things with the Fiskars scissors is that these can be resharpened with a Fiskars scissors sharpener.
Needles - I like to use good quality needles, as for me, there is nothing worse than a needle breaking halfway through a seam! I tend to use either the Millward or Prym machine needles as I find these to be good quality.

Pins - Silly as it may seem, there really is such a great variation of pins. When it comes to using pins it's personal choice really, as to what you prefer. I persoanlly like to use the brighter glass headed pins as I find them easier to see when I'm sewing.
Threads - As with scissors, threads are another must have item. Threads come in so many colours and fibre types it can sometimes be really confusing. As a general guide, if you are just using threads to dress make with, you can't go too far wrong with the Gutermann sew all threads. These have been around for years and come in a huge selection different colours and also reel lengths.
I hope you have enjoyed my blog entry today on what I find to be essential items for my sewing box. I have only covered a couple of items here as I'm limited to space and could go on forever! What items do you have in your sewing box? What have I missed here that you could not live without?
