One of our best selling Haberdashery items here at Calico Laine is our range of Bias Binding. It is a popular item as it can be the finishing touch to most projects and with a large range of colours there is a huge variety to choose from. Sometimes, however, you may not be able to find a bias binding that matches your fabric and this is where our Bias Binding Makers come in handy. These haberdashery favourites allow you to create a unique bias from your own fabric that will match perfectly.
Bias binding is a narrow strip of fabric, cut on the bias which can be pieced together to form a long tape. This can then be used for binding seams, finishing raw edges and piping. To create your own bias binding it couldn't be simpler and with the Prym Bias Binding Makers in our haberdashery department available in 3 sizes, you can create your binding in a size to suit you.

To create your own bias, cut a length of fabric twice the width of the narrow end of your bias maker. You will need to make sure that your fabric is cut on the bias. Next, simply feed the fabric through the wide end making sure that it is as even as possible. Feed this through until it comes through at the other end.
Press the tape as you gently pull the bias maker in the opposite direction. It is important not to use a steam setting when you do this. Continue to do this until you have the desired amount of bias. Within a few minutes you have a a bias binding that will look fabulous with your project.
Have you ever made your own bias binding? Did you find it easy to do? If so, please let us know on our Facebook page. We would love to see pictures of your creations and hear your comments about our range of haberdashery.
Until next time,
