As Autumn approaches we will soon be in the winter months and will need to wrap up warm for those inevitably cold nights. Here at Calico Laine we stock a great range of Knitting Wool that can help you create some winter garments to keep you cosy on those chilly days. In our store we stock two brands of Knitting Wool, Stylecraft and Sirdar. Stylecraft sell everyday wool which can be used for more plain garments whereas Sirdar sell more 'fancy' wools and is more of a premium wool. Stylecraft wool prices start at a modest £1.89 for a 100g ball of Special Double Knit wool so if you only have a small budget to work with this wool is ideal. At this price it is also great for knitting items for children as well as you probably do not want to spend a large amount on clothes that they make grow out of quickly. With 55 colours available in the Special Double Knit range there is a lot to choose from so you can make garments that will go with any outfit. In the winter months we find that our most popular wools are Chunky and Aran wool as they knit up to a thicker material which would make gorgeous thick jumpers that will keep you nice and warm. Our Stylecraft Life Chunky Wool is particularly popular as it has 25% wool in it rather than 100% acrylic giving it that extra bit of warmth. At £2.89 per ball it is also a great value for money wool. Within our wool collection we stock two types of wool that are specifically for making scarves, ideal as presents for Christmas or just to wear yourself with a big winter coat. In our Stylecraft wool we have Ruffles wool which knits up to make a curly style scarf. You only need one ball of wool for this and the pattern to use is on the underside of the label making it quick and easy to use. From our Sirdar range, we have Bohemia wool. This wool is very soft and when used with large Knitting Needles will produce a large chunky scarf to keep the chill off you. Again, this wool has a free scarf pattern on the underside of the label.
