It doesn't seem too long since we had a break for Christmas but in the next few weeks the kids will be off school again for half term. With the weather turning particularly cold recently, it is inevitable that they are going to have to spend a lot of the holiday indoors. This is the best time for children to explore their creative side with
Kid's Crafts. This can be things that have done before or new activities that the whole family can join in with.

Crafting with wooden letters
A recent addition to the craft section at Calico Laine is our range of
wooden letters. These are the perfect item to use for Kid's Crafts. These letters can decorated using acrylic paint, collage, stickers, buttons or even covered in fabric; with a bit of imagination the possibilities are endless. They can be used individually or together to make a child's name or spell a favourite word. My sister in law recently used these letters to write the word 'Create' on the wall of her craft room. My niece and nephew helped to decorate the letters and they turned out really well.

Felt Squares are ideal for Kid's Crafts[/caption]
Using felt for Kid's Crafts projects
Another easy project you can do with older children is creating felt magnets for the fridge or felt badges. Using
felt squares you can easily cut out shapes which can be stuck together to make animals, or any shape that you want. As felt doesn't fray, there doesn't have to be any sewing involved; just a little bit of glueing. You can draw on felt with permanent markers or paint on them with acrylic paints to add more interest. After the felt piece has been made, you can glue magnets onto the back to create a fridge magnet. Alternatively you can glue or sew a brooch back onto the felt.
