One of our recently updated range of fabrics, here at Calico Laine, is our selection of Jersey Dressmaking Fabrics. With a number of different weights and colours there is an excellent choice of Jersey Fabrics to choose from whether your making a t-shirt, skirt, dress or top. Jersey has a knitted construction which gives it a good amount of stretch, usually across the bias. This is an ideal quality to have in a fabric if you are looking for comfort in your garment and is perfect for dress designs that do not need a zip. Our Double Knit Jersey and  Ultra Soft Medium Weight Spring Jersey are the ideal fabric to choose if you are wanting to create a 'knit dress' which just pulls over the head as it will be both flexible and soft. Jersey fabrics are also insulating allowing them to be worn next to the body giving you some warmth. If you are looking to create a more casual garment using our Jersey Dressmaking Fabrics, the Cotton Jersey that we stock would be a great choice. Our cotton jersey is a lightweight Jersey and is available in a number of pastel colours, red, royal blue as well as black and white. Made from 100% cotton, this fabric is easy to work with and would make a great t shirt or casual top for the summer and at just £4.99 it is excellent value for money. The newest addition to our range of Jersey Dressmaking fabrics is our Lycra Jersey. This fabric contains 20% lycra which gives it a large amount of stretch and makes it ideal for draped garments. The Lycra Jersey allows you to move well and is very comfortable to wear due to this. Available in 8 new colours and £7.99 per metre, this fabric is a great choice for Dressmaking. One of our most popular Jersey Fabrics over the winter months has been our Double Knit Jersey Fabric which can also be used moving into the Spring. Double Jersey is a heavier fabric that is made from two single jersey fabrics knitted together which creates a fabric with less stretch and a bit more body, ideal for a dress to keep you that little bit warmer till we reach the Summer months and hopefully some sunshine!
