Lace is a beautiful elegant fabric and can be made up into all sorts of designs whether you are designing bridal wear or just casual wear, it has a place in all areas of dressmaking. Here at Calico Laine, we have two choices of Lace: Corded Lace- which has a heavily embroidered design throughout the fabric with a delicate sheer lace behind it. Corded lace has a beautiful scalloped edging to it, which really emphasizes the intricate design of this fabric. This fabric is also pretty wide (130-135cm) and can be bought by the meter. The other choice is the standard Lace Fabric, it is a light weight fabric made from 100% polyester and is available in a selection of beautiful colours! The approximate weight of the Lace is 47 grams per square meter and has a stunning floral design throughout. The great thing about Lace is that it can be used to cover cut out parts on dresses or tops, or even used for the back piece of clothing and can even be used as a trim. You could also use the lace on top of another opaque fabric to really layer your garment. You could really contrast your colours for example, using a lighter fabric with a darker shade of lace over the top which creates a stunning effect. This fabric can also be used for Bridal Wear too! It looks beautiful when made up into sleeves or collars and edging for the dress and really accentuates the delicateness of your garment!
