Now that Halloween and Bonfire Night are over the next big celebration is Christmas and I know that some of you may have been planning for it already! (One of our staff members starts in September!) When it comes to this time of year we find that customers like to make unique handmade items to decorate their homes and give as gifts and the most popular item around this time of year is ribbons from our Haberdashery section both online and in store. Ribbons are a Haberdashery item that can be used for a multitude of things and each year customers come to us with different ideas of what they are using them for. Most of us who like to spend a little time wrapping up presents will use ribbons to tie around gifts to make them look extra special on the big day. We have a large selection of patterned christmas ribbons with designs such as 'Merry Christmas' wording, deer heads, mistletoe and snowflakes to make your presents stand out. For some however, you may already have beautiful patterned paper and the addition of a stylish plain satin ribbon gives the gift that luxury feel. These ribbons can also be used to trim Christmas cards, especially those with wording on and giving a handmade card is a little personal touch you can do in the holiday season. Along with other Haberdashery items such as felt squares and embroidery threads, you can use ribbon as part of Christmas decorations for the tree. Using felt and toy stuffing you can make simple but effective tree decorations and use a little bit of festive ribbon to hang it with. Or why not use ribbon on its own to create bows and swagging to decorate your tree to give it a unique and individual look.
