Here at Calico Laine we stock an enormous range of ribbons with practically every colour, pattern and texture available. Ribbon is a very versatile item that can be used for all sorts of craft creations, and in today's blog post we'll be suggesting some ideas for using ribbon in your own projects. Whether you want a colour to compliment or contrast whatever you're working on, we're bound to have something that suits your individual needs and tastes. - Do you own or have you made an item of clothing that is just a little bit plain for your liking? Use some ribbon for embellishment - it can be used to make bows, or even to finish off a hem. Some of our customers have used ribbon for making straps on summer dresses and dresses for children as well. - Got an old bag that's looking tired? Don't throw it away - use it as the base for a craft project. Why not make some flowers out of lengths of ribbon and pin them to your bag? Try using some of our buttons as the centres for your flowers, either in a complimenting colour for a smooth look, or a contrasting shade for a piece that stands out and catches the eye. - Are you into card-making? Try using our ribbon to make some interesting trims and decorations for cards. Our ribbons can be glued down onto card with ease - we also sell glue suitable for this purpose. - Want to do something different with your shoes? Why not lace them using ribbon? We suggest using our stronger ribbons such as our grosgrain range for using as shoelaces, which also helps to add a new texture to your shoes as well. Have you used ribbon in your craft projects for something that we haven't included in our blog today? We would love to hear what you've used it for in your own work, and we always like to see photographs of our customers' creations - so don't forget to share on our Facebook page! Until next time, Calico Laine
