Now that wedding season is upon us, it is not only our dressmaking fabrics which are proving to be in huge demand with dressmakers commissioned with creating a once in a lifetime gown for a bride to be; our Haberdashery items are also flying off the shelves. As with any commission it is important for a dressmaker to consider that he or she has enough good quality Haberdashery items available to achieve the best possible results for your client. When creating a bespoke bridal gown the dressmaker and designer will often require access to many more specialist items than they would for many other commissions which is why we take great care to stock such a wide range of Haberdashery items all year round. Here are details of just a few of our most popular bridal wear items:
[caption id="attachment_9180" align="alignright" width="192"] Boning is a popular choice of Haberdashery for structured bridal gowns.[/caption]
Boning - a particularly popular item of Haberdashery, boning is particularly prominent in the creation of bespoke bridal gowns and is used to give light structure to garments. Boning is a very popular addition to wedding dresses as it helps the garment to maintain it's shape and gives the wearer the desired "hourglass" shape. Boning eliminates the requirement for the bride to wear a bra which may be otherwise uncomfortable or unsightly under a bridal gown, providing extra support when added to strapless designs. We carry a wide range of boning, the most popular for bridal gowns being cotton covered boning; the perfect item of Haberdashery for a achieving a high quality and professional finish to your garments whilst remaining comfortable to wear against the skin for long periods of time.
Zips - a pretty standard item of Haberdashery and used in almost any project, zips have been utilised in recent years for fastening bridal gowns in place of more complicated fasteners such as corset strings or hook and eye, largely because many brides are choosing to marry abroad and do not have the dressmaker to hand to assist in the fastening of more complicated structures. Many dressmakers will choose a concealed zip as a quick and easy way for the bridesmaids to fasten the bridal gown with minimum fuss or stress, these zips are so well hidden that (when inserted correctly) they are almost impossible to detect.
Bra Accessories - it is often difficult to find an item of lingerie which is comfortable to wear all day long and will not be visible beneath the gown which is where our selection of bra accessories come in handy. Our low back bra strap adjustor is a fantastic product which can be used to easily convert your bra to enable you to wear them with lower back garments. The strap simply crossed over at the back and secures at the front and is comfortable enough to be worn for extended periods of time. Clear soft bra straps are popular with brides who have chosen a strapless gown or a design with particularly thin straps, the clear straps are almost invisible when worn against the skin meaning you will not be running the risk of your lingerie straps being visible.
