This section on the website has recently been updated and made easier to use by us. Gingham Fabrics are one of our best sellers and after speaking to our customers and getting feebdack we have decided to redesign this part of the site.
Why are Gingham Fabrics so popular? I think it is because they are so versitile. They simply have so many uses. In todays blog Im going to talk about their uses from a Dressmaking perspective. Listed below I will go into detail about the different types of ginghams that we sell and some of the things that I have used them for in the past.
Gingham Fabrics: Our standard range of ginghams are 115cm and made from polyester. These ginghams are available in 1/4'' or 1/8'' check. These all wash really well and have a soft woven finish to them, maing them ideal to be used for school uniforms, dresses and even shirts.
Large Check Gingham Fabrics: These large check 1''square ginghams have the same characteristics as the smaller check ginghams. With the check being much bigger on this range they lend themselves to be used for more adult based clothing. Although not strictly dressmaking, I have also made kitchen curtains and tablecloths out of this fabric and they looked great and washed really well.
Gingham Print Fabrics: Â This beautiful selection of fabrics are ideal for using on baby wear or for small children. These fabrics are 150 cm wide and have a lovley soft feel to them. As I said earlier in the blog, I have also used this fabric to make a blind in my baby's room. The colours and patterns really do lend themsleves to be used in a babies enviroment.
Cotton Rich Gingham Fabrics: An excellent selection fabrics that have a much higher cotton composition than the other gingham fabrics. Our range of cotton rich ginghams enjoy 60% cotton mixed with a 40% polyester, making them an excellent choice for dressmaking. This range of fabrics are 150cm wide and priced at only £4.99.
I hope you have enjoyed reading todays blog and it has highlighted some great uses for ginghams.
