As you may know, it's winter! Fleece Fabrics are the PERFECT winter warmer fabric. Fleece is such a versatile fabric and is so easy to work with. It can be made into almost anything, ranging from a mermaid tail blanket to a wrap over cape jacket - I have personally seen both of these made up and they look fabulous. Here at Calico Laine, we have plenty of fleece to choose from, including some brand new patterns and colours, just in time for the chilly weather. We stock a medium weight fleece fabric in over 20 colours, luxury fleece fabric in over 30 colours, printed fleece fabrics in many different prints and colours, and my personal favourite - cuddle fleece fabric in plain colours and patterns. One of the best qualities of our Fleece Fabrics is that they don't fray when they are cut! It's that great that if you make a throw, you won't need to hem it. A simple and easy way to make a throw is to buy 1.5 metres so it is a perfect square, then the whole creation process is already done for you. You can always be a bit fancier if you wish; for example, try buying 1.5 metres of two different fleece fabrics, then lay one piece on top of each other (and neaten up edges if needed). Cut 2" vertical slits every 1" all the way round the edges of both pieces. After that, knot the strips you have cut in the two pieces of fabric together, one pair of strips at a time - and voila, you have a finished, no-sew blanket ready to snuggle in. It is simple to make, but effective, and guaranteed to keep you warm over the winter season. Many of our customers choose to add the fleece fabric as a backing to a patchwork quilt, which finishes off the quilt perfectly. Quilts make a lovely, personalised gift for anyone, and adding fleece as a backing makes them practical for use in colder weather. As we have drawn nearer to Christmas, we have had quite a few customers visiting us in-store to select the perfect Fleece Fabric to finish off quilts being given as Christmas gifts, and it has been great seeing everyone's creations in person. Fleece Fabrics are also popular for use in warm winter clothing, such as gilets, jackets and pyjamas. I have used some of my favourite colours to make a few, simple hoodies, and they have really helped to keep me warm during the winter season's chilly weather.
