Even though we seem to be having quite a warm October so far it won't be long until the cold nights draw in and we will all be switching the central heating on to warm us up in the evenings and sometimes during the day. Many customers have already started preparing for this by buying their winter fabrics at Calico Laine and one of the most popular is Fleece Fabric which has been flying off the shelf for several weeks now.
Our Fleece Fabric is ideal for keeping you warm and snug in the colder weather and can be used for soft furnishings as well as clothing. The majority of our fleece is 'anti pill' which means that no matter how many times you wash it, it will retain its soft appearance and high quality. Due to it's softness and durability, it is always popular for making items for children and babies and we often sell Fleece Fabric for making blankets and cot quilts to keep the little ones warm. We have recently added a new range of super soft fleece fabrics which are ideal for children. Available in patterned designs featuring owls, bears and pandas these fleeces are perfect for creating super soft 'onesies' and blankets for those winter nights.
As well as being suitable for items when you are inside, Fleece Fabric can be used to create garments for outdoor activity such as sweaters, hats and gym clothing due to its insulating qualities. Fleece holds less than 1% of its weight in water which means that it will retain its insulating qualities even when wet which makes it ideal for outdoor garments. Fleece Fabric is also a great alternative to wool and many people who are allergic to wool or do not like to use animal products choose fleece instead.
