One of the most anticipated films of the year, The Hunger Games Catching Fire, is being released this week and with the L.A premiere being held last Monday, all eyes were on leading lady Jennifer Lawrence. At the Oscars, where she won Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook, she wore a stunning pale pink textured Fabric Dior ball gown and for the L.A premiere she decided to wear another Dior number. This head turning dress may have been an unusual choice for most actresses however with her youthful look and long legs, Jennifer looked sensational.

The dress consisted of a black leotard underneath a dusky blue sheer fabric with a check effect to it. Using a large black belt to cinch the dress in at the waist and with a black clutch bag to finish the look off it really stood out from the crowd.
Using fabrics from Calico Laine, this look could be recreated easily. The underneath fabric layer could be made using our Lycra fabric and with a number of colours to choose from there is no need to limit yourself to black. If you are looking for more of a matte finish to the leotard, you could even use our Lycra Jersey which would give you a comfortable under layer to your dress. For the top layer of the dress there is a multitude of fabric to choose from and a wide range of colours. Whether you want to go for a patterned look to the dress or more of a plain finish, one of the best fabrics to use would be chiffon.
Cationic chiffon would give a flowing look to the dress however if you wanted to create Jennifer's look, you could use horsehair braid along the hem of the dress to stiffen the bottom and add more structure to the skirt. To add even more body to the skirt, a thicker chiffon style fabric such as georgette could be used.
