It is quite often that we consider creating our own clothing for special occasions and one-off events. However another rewarding way to make the most of of the Dressmaking Fabrics that are available here at Calico Laine is by incorporating them into your everyday wardrobe! In todays blog I would like to talk about Dressmaking Fabrics and there uses in everyday life. Quite often when you decide to make a dress or skirt you have planned to wear it for some sort of special occasion such as a wedding or party. But there is a lot more to dressmaking that just wearing items as a one off.
One of the best things about making your own clothes is that they are very unique and the chances of seeing someone else in the same dress are very slim. It is also very rewarding having somebody comment on your dress that you have made yourself.
Below I’m going to talk about a couple of fabrics that can be classed as Dressmaking Fabrics but are used in everyday life:
- Bi Stretch Fabrics: This fabric is ideal to use for trousers or even pants and has a slight stretch to it.
- Gabardine and Drill Fabrics: These make excellent work wear overalls or kitchen uniforms.
- Jersey Fabrics: These fabrics are one of our best sellers and can be used from T-Shirts throught to tight fitting ball gowns. A very versatile range of fabrics.
