In today’s blog we’ll be covering some of our Haberdashery products that we think are perfect for breathing life into any project, new or old. Ribbon – Perhaps our most versatile Haberdashery product, there are so many colours, widths and types of ribbon available here at Calico Laine. Ribbon can be used for all different kinds of embellishing – plait it, make bows out of it, make ties or even straps if your project is lightweight enough. Buttons – While buttons are a popular type of fastening, they are also a popular Haberdashery item for decorating everything from bags and cushion to stuffed animals and clothing. They are great to use as the centrepiece for a bow or brooch, and if you are feeling extra creative we recommend stacking them on top of each other for a truly unique look. Zips – Although zips are mainly used for their function, they are a fantastic Haberdashery product to use as decoration if you want your project to have a rebellious feel – pair a zip with some safety pins and tartan fabric for a true punk vibe. Bias Binding – If you are looking for a neat way to finish your edges but want something other than a regular rolled hem, we recommend bias binding.
