We're not too far away now from the festive season and with this in mind I'm going to talk about a number fabrics that are perfect for those big nights outs. These fabrics where all made in house by Calico Laine and all of the fabrics came from our stock.

The dress we have made here was made using a beautiful silk devorie and a high quality leather. The bottom half of the dress was also lined using a an anti static lining. This reason I chose to make this dress in this way is that I just loved the pattern on the silk. It is a lovely bold print and stands out really well against the black. The thinking behind using leather for the top is that it adds an unusual finish paired with the silk, but at the same time keeps it very current. As an aside, I had left over fabric from this project and also made a beautiful silk scarf. I lined the back of it with one of our black velvet fabrics.

The next item I am going to talk about I'm really pleased with how it has turned out. When this fabric first arrived I wasn't a 100% sure on it's design. I'm glad I was persuaded to give it a go and make something with it. This just goes to show, sometimes fabrics and especially printed dress fabrics can look so different once off the roll and made up!
This particular fabric is made from 97% cotton and 3% spandex and is really comfortable to wear. It's ideal to wear all year round and washes really really well. This isn't the first time I have used this fabric and I'm pleased to say it won't be the last.
From the image below you can see we have been busy making dresses, skirts and trousers. Over the coming months we are going to be adding more and more images of our fabrics and what they can be made into.
