As we are now in the cooler months of the year, when it comes to your garments, different types of Dressmaking Fabrics are often taken into consideration. Here at Calico Laine we have a fantastic range of winter Dressmaking Fabrics that are perfect for all of your projects. When choosing your winter Dressmaking Fabrics, the materials you opt for are dependant on the garments you are creating. In todays blog I am going to have a look at some of the options that can be used for creating those winter wonders!
One of our best-selling  Dressmaking Fabrics that we now have in stock here at Calico Laine is Melton Fabric. This is a beautiful material that we have available in several different shades, so you can be sure to find something that suits your requirements! Melton Dressmaking Fabrics are 80% polyester and 20% viscose and come in a width of 150cm. They really do  make the perfect choice of winter Dressmaking Fabric for garments such as coats and jackets, and will be guaranteed to keep you warm this winter! It has the same thickness and texture of boiled wool, so it is hard to tell the difference which makes this the perfect alternative!
Another lighter option of Dressmaking Fabric for this time of year is Crepe.  The Crepe that we have in stock here at Calico Laine is an extremely high quality cloth from Germany, and it is now available in a beautiful array of shades including many new colour options this year…so you can be sure to find the perfect colour for your requirements!
