It's that time of year again when the nights are drawing, the weather is getting cooler and the kids are back to school. This is the time of year when people start to think about Halloween and with it becoming a bigger occasion in the last few years, there will be a lot of people choosing Dress Fabric to make their own costumes rather than buying one.
A popular fabric for Halloween is dress net. This comes in a large variety of colours in particular orange, violet and black for Halloween. At £1.25 per metre it is a cheap way to create a tutu style skirt for a fancy dress costume or can be used as an overlay over an existing skirt or outfit. With a little bit of elastic as a waistband and a few metres of gathered dress net a simple tutu skirt can be made which can be used to create a number of different costumes including a witch or cat.
For the boys, Dress Fabric featuring spider's webs and skulls is always popular. With both net and satin fabrics featuring these designs, capes and tops can be made to create a simple and quick costume. Felt can also be used, as this is easily cut and again is available in colours suitable for Halloween. This is easily cut with scissors and can be a way of getting children to help with making their own costume, as long as they are supervised!
Another Dress Fabric which is ideal for Halloween costumes is faux fur. This can be used to make animal themed costumes such as a witches cat or werewolf. This can be combined this with felt to make children's masks or could be used with our animal velboa which is also a great fabric for costume making.
