Corded Lace is one of the most popular fabrics that we stock here at Calico Laine and currently massive in the fashion industry. Lace can be used in lots of ways, from dresses to tops and even on cushions. Our Corded Lace is absolutely stunning and looks amazing when made up. It is 140cm wide and made from 53% cotton and 47% nylon corded flounce.
Our Lace comes with a scalloped edge so you can use it for decorative purposes too without hemming it. The Scalloped edge of the lace can be used for the ends of sleeves, the hem of a dress and even the neckline - it is extremely versatile to dress make with. You can make the lace look very different by adding a contrasting colour fabric behind the lace, for example using our red corded lace in an a-line dress, you could use black duchess satin to give the dress a little bit of shape. Here at Calico Laine we have also seen some lovely straight down to the floor wedding dresses made from our Ivory Corded Lace with Ivory Satin Back Crepe for the background colour. The satin gave the lace a slight shimmer and looked gorgeous.
Corded Lace is an extremely versatile fabric and I am thinking of using this to make bedding. To start with I will be making the background out of our Cream Cotton Sheeting then adding a layer of Gold Corded Lace to the end of the quilt cover and pillows using the scalloped edge as detail. Simple and easy but very effective. The uses for this lace are endless. Once I've made this bedding I will share my creation on our Facebook page!
