Chiffon Fabric is one of our most popular sheer fabrics and a personal favourite of mine within our chiffon selection is cationic chiffon. Made in Indonesia, this fabric is beautifully soft and feels almost like silk to touch. It is great for evening wear dresses and special occasion wear as well being suitable for scarves and belts. Here at Calico Laine we have recently added a a number of new colours to this range and are expecting even more new colours to be added in the near future.
Cationic chiffon is an ideal Chiffon Fabric for designs that require drape as it is a very fine fabric and will hang beautifully. Last Easter, my sister and brother in law got married in Cyprus and as chief bridesmaid I wore a cationic chiffon dress made by one of our local dressmakers. The Chiffon Fabric was pleated across the top of the dress with a mid length skirt which draped well giving the dress a very elegant aesthetic. Underneath the chiffon, a lycra jersey in a similar colour was used to create a lining which was very comfortable to wear. The dresses were created very cheaply compared to how much you would expect to pay in a bridal studio and this is another positive point of using cationic chiffon for special occasion wear as it is excellent value for money.
If you are planning ahead for your wedding next spring or summer we have some gorgeous new colours in stock in our cationic Chiffon Fabric range. Sugar pink and candy are some of our most popular colours in the new range and pink is always a favourite with brides for their bridesmaid dresses. If you are not a pink person, like me however, why not try a peppermint which is a great colour for a spring wedding.
