If you are getting married this year, then chances are you will be looking for those perfect Bridal Fabrics to be used for your bridal gown and bridesmaid dresses on your big day. At Calico Laine, we have several Bridal Fabrics that are popular choices for these outfits all year round, and also for accessories such as cravats and cummerbunds. In today's blog, we'll be talking about some of these Bridal Fabrics; whatever your theme or chosen colours, we are bound to have something to suit your needs.
Duchess Satin - Arguably our most popular Bridal Fabrics is our duchess satin is 150cm/60" wide and comes in a massive range of colours. Whilst white, ivory and cream are more traditional, if you're looking for a pop of colour with the same quality then this is the Bridal Fabric for you. With everything from pastel shades to bright yellows, blues and even more difficult shades to find such as orange, our duchess satin looks fantastic when made up, either on its own or with an overlay and/or embellishment.
Lace - If you are after some extra detail for your gowns but you aren't quite sure what you would like, perhaps take a look at our lace Bridal Fabrics. Nearly all of the colours we have available in our lace fabrics compliment others in different ranges such as our duchess satin and taffeta. All of our lace Bridal Fabrics have floral patterns, and look stunning when made up.
Chiffon - Chiffon is a beautiful, floaty Bridal Fabric that helps to add dimensions and layers to a dress without making it look over-the-top. We stock many different types of chiffons, from the almost silk-like cationic chiffon to the heavier georgette, and they are great to use for sleeves on bridal gowns if you did not want to use lace. The colours in our chiffons compliment a lot of our other Bridal Fabrics very well, meaning your whole outfit looks well put together when it is completey made up.
Taffeta - Our taffeta Bridal Fabrics are a good choice for dresses that need to hold their shape, as it is a stiff Bridal Fabric and is suited to dresses with big skirts and large petticoats. Due to this quality, taffeta is popular for 50s themed dresses and circle skirts, which seem to be in style for weddings at the moment (and, outside of weddings, make fabulous ballgowns and prom dresses).
