Although what is traditionally known as 'wedding season' may have come to an end a few weeks ago, that does not mean that sales of our most popular Bridal Fabrics have slowed down at all! In fact, over the years we have noticed more and more brides shunning the traditional spring or summer wedding for a winter wonderland spectacular. As beautiful as summer weddings always are, there seems to be something extra special about a winter celebration; with log fires, twinkly fairy lights and if luck is with you, a light dusting of snow covering every surface, a winter wedding can be spectacular and of course gives you the opportunity to be creative with your decor, photographs and gown. Brides may choose a winter wedding for a number of reasons including schedule, budget and availability of suppliers.

During summer wedding season we see similar colours remaining popular year after year and in particular pastels such as pinks and blues paired with bouquets and decorations made from gorgeous summer time blooms such as lilies and roses. For a winter celebration, many brides like to experiment with deeper and more dramatic colour palettes and we see a rise in the sale of Bridal Fabrics in shades of scarlet, purple and even black with bouquets and pew ends crafted from winter ornaments such as berries, holly and ivy. When it comes to the gown itself, many winter brides choose to move away from traditional bridal hues such as ivory and white and instead may opt for a more dramatic and glamorous gown in cooler tones of gold, bronze or silver. Our duchess satin fabrics are one of the most popular for wedding gowns during the winter season, largely due to their excellent weight and are perfect for heavier, fairytale style gowns with a gorgeous sheen. Of course, comfort is particularly important for a winter wedding, nobody wants to see a shivering bride looking back at them in their wedding photos, but being comfortable during your winter celebration does not mean that you have to compromise on style. Traditionally, winter brides would opt for a stylish stole to keep themselves warm and comfortable on their journey to or from the ceremony however, with designers like Oscar de la Renta showcasing stunning collections of winter bridal couture, winter brides have become more and more adventurous with their wedding day attire experimenting with capes, shawls and full length bridal coats crafted from less traditional Bridal Fabrics such as faux fur and velvet.

Lisa Kudrow stole the show in Phoebe's elegant, strapless gown crafted from a stunning silver Bridal Fabric. Created by Rani Totman, the gown was breathtaking and the subtle shade of silver was perfect for a winter wedding and stunning against Lisa Kudrow's ice cool complexion.
