Last weekend saw Pierre Casiraghi, the grandson of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainer III of Monaco, tie the know with his 29 year old beau, Beatrice Borromeo. All eyes were on the bride as she emerged on the balcony of luxurious Salon des Glaces in the Pink Palace wearing a stunning Valentino gown crafted from a beautiful blush pink lace Bridal Fabric, thought to be an homage to her husband's grandmother Grace Kelly.

Back in 1956 when Grace Kelly married Prince Rainer III she was one of the biggest stars in the world with hollywood hits such as High Noon and Dial M for Murder already under her belt and was widely renowned of one of the world's greatest beauties. The queen of the silver screen became real life royalty when she married her love on 19th April 1956 at St. Nicholas Cathedral; Princess Grace made headlines all around the world with her breathtaking gown featuring a bodice of lace Bridal Fabric paired with a bell shaped skirt and pleated waist band, accentuating her famous hourglass shape. The now iconic dress cost a staggering $12 million and was designed by Helen Rose, chief wedding dress designer at MGM Studios. The intricate design was constructed of many layers of Bridal Fabric including silk tulle, pearl-encrusted rose point lace and peau de soie satin. In order to achieve the voluminous shape, Helen Rose painstakingly crafted a separate bodice to be worn underneath the gown using a matte crepe Bridal Fabric and three layers of integrated petticoats which worked together to give the skirt it's distinctive shape. The gown is now owned by the Philadelphia Museum of Art where fans travel from all over the world for a glance of their idol's gown. Grace's dress is still one of the most admired and replicated of all time and is said to have been the inspirations for The Duchess of Cambridge's McQueen gown when she wed Prince William back in 2012.
