There are many different Dressmaking projects that require you to work within a budget, and so often your choice of what Dressmaking Fabrics you use can be slightly limited. In this situation it is important not to opt for using Cheap Fabrics, as this can more often than not, prove to be a more expensive option in the long run. Cheap Fabrics simply do not have the same quality as the Dressmaking Fabrics that we stock here at Calico Laine, and they can never produce the same results as would be possible, should you use a fabric of higher quality.
Here are a few examples of the Economy Fabrics that we have avilable and how they can be used instead of Cheap Fabrics:
- Gingham - This is one of the most popular Fabrics that we sell, and at just £2.69 a metre it is the ideal choice for childrens clothing! This polycotton gingham is designed to last well, and is a perfect replacement for Cheap Fabrics that would not wear as well if made into garments such as school uniforms.
- Organza - This is a beautiul layering Fabric that is suitable for Bridal wear and for other formal occasions such as prom dresses. This gorgeous Fabric is only £2.49 a metre, yet is far from being a Cheap Fabric due to its quality and finish when created into clothing items.
- Poplin - This is a lighterweight polycotton Fabric that is only £2.99 a metre and is ideal for shirts and tops. Even though it is fantastic value for money, it is far from being a Cheap Fabric. This is the highest quality Poplin Fabric around, and it really shows when used in Dressmaking.
