Taffeta Fabric has many uses in both dressmaking and also upholstery, but in todays blog I'm going to talk about it as a Dressmaking Fabric.
Taffeta is a smooth high end fabric that has many uses in dressmaking including being used on bridal dresses, evening dresses and also on skirts. Taffeta is very popular at present, as can be seen by the amount of Taffeta Fabric being used in high street clothes shops. One of the great things about making your own dress or skirt out of Taffeta is that no one else will have the the same dress!!!
The Taffeta Fabric that we sell here at Calico Laine are all 150cm wide and made in Germany. We have plain coloured Taffeta and also some two tone Taffeta Fabrics. Both of these fabrics are very popular and look fabulous when made up. When using Taffeta as a Dressmaking Fabric you can also use other fabrics with it as a layering fabric for example. An excellent example of this is Chiffon Fabric. Both of these fabrics work really well together and can look fabulous when teamed up together.
Another Taffeta item that we sell here at Calico Laine is Taffeta Ribbon. This is available in 6mm, 15mm and 25mm widths and in 0ver 20 colours. They come on 25 metre rolls and prices start from as little as £4.49 per reel. This ribbon has a soft handle, but is light and crisp to touch.
I hope you have enjoyed todays blog on Taffeta and it has prehaps made you think about making your own dress. If you have any comments or suggestions then leave them in the box below. Also, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter were we often have special offers and promotions,
