At Calico Laine we have an extensive range of Haberdashery products with over 1000 products available all for same day despatch. Haberdashery has really come back into fashion of late, with television programs such as ''How to look good naked'' often refering to Haberdashery products as a cost effective way of revamping your wardrobe. Quite often with these programs they always seem to refer to womens clothes being altered, but men can also alter thier wardrobe to create a whole new look. Listed below I have gone into some detail about our Haberdashery range and highlighted some of the most popular items in this section: Beaded Fringe: In this section we have a great selection of fringes that have many uses. For example I have seen these used around the bottom of dresses and also on the bottom of blinds. Bias Binding: One of the main products in Haberdashery, Bias Bindings are a real must for any sewer. At Calico Laine we stock 100% cotton bias binding, polyester bias binding and satin bias bindings. These all come in a great choice of colours and a variety of widths. Bonings and Waistbands: When making or creating your own dress, skirt or corsett for example you are always going to need boning to add stiffness. We have a selection bonings including steel boning, polyester boning and cotton covered boning. Bra Extenders: These products are really useful and can often save you a lot of money. Why pay out for a new bra when you can just use a bra extender? As well as bra extenders in this section we also offer bikini clasps in both metal and plastic. These are a real must if you are planning on going away!!!! Bridal Accessories: For your big day you often need the small finishing touches.... and here at Calico Laine we have a couple of the things that can make a real difference, such as satin gloves and bridal garters. Cords: No good haberdashery retailer should be without an extensive range of cords. Cords have a real mulitiude of uses, from dressmaking right through to uses in the building trade. In our collection of cords we have 1mm cords through to 6mm cords and nearly everything in between!!!!!! Plus most of these cords are available in choice of colours. Curtain Tapes: When making or revamping your curtains it's really important to use the correct curtain tape and headers. Afterall, curtains are heavy and they often hang for long periods of time and get used daily. At Calico Laine we stock branded curtain tapes such as rufflette, Inhome and Bandex. By stocking all of these brands we are able to offer curtain tapes from 1'' wide up to 6'' wide, all at great prices and available by the metre or by the roll for added value. Dylon Products: If you going through your wardrobe and lookng at clothes you don't wear anymore, chances are there is a top or a pair of jeans you don't wear because you don't like the colour? Instead of just leaving them in the bottom of the wardrobe why not lift them out and dye them? It would be like having a new item of clothing!!!! If you did this to a top and a pair of jeans you could almost say you had a whole new wardrobe!!!! Elastics: In dressmaking and haberdashery elastics are must have item. Traditionally elastics are only available in black and white, but in some ranges we can offer special coloured elastic. At Calico Laine we offer both flat and round elastic in widths from 1mm up to 75mm wide. Fasteners: They say attention is in the detail. I tend to agree. If your going to take the time making or creating your own dress or outfit then it really is worth finishing it off properly. Fasteners are the unseen heros of dressmaking. We have a great selection here at Calico Laine with all different types of fasteners. For example there are press stud fasteners and then simple hook and bar fasteners. We are sure we have any type of fastener that you may need for your project!!! Feathers: These items are often very seasonal, but they can be used to jazz up your outfit even in the winter!!!! An excellent example of this is using the diamante feathers in your hair!!!! Another great use for feathers is for wedding decoration. The larger ostrich feathers are ideal to use in vases as table decorations at you wedding venue. Felt and Baize: Another of the main stays of haberdashery, felt is one of our best sellers and with good reason. We offer felt by the metre and also in squares. Felt fabric is also available in with a self adhesive back. Hemming Tapes: As any good tailor will tell you, hemming tapes have saved them many many hours of time. Often refered to as magic tape, hemming tape is the only way to take up trousers. You simply turn the trousers up and insert the tape and iron over it to fix the tape. Simple!!!!! Lace and Trims: A great selection of lace and trims will ensure you never get short on items to use on jazzing up your old black dress. Lace and trims are ideal to use for jazzing up your clothes because of the sheer variety in them. They are available in widths from 25mm up to 75mm. Organza Products: As with the feathers, these products often lend themselves to wedding decorations. In recent months I have seen the organza snow sheers used to make bows on the back of chairs at weddings. The wider organza has also been used as a table runner. Both these options offer real value for money and look really good when used. Machine Accessories: All dedicated sewers have a sewing machine in thier sewing room. Here at Calico Laine we offer all the everyday accessories you may need. These include machine sewing needles, machine oil, bobbins and bobbin cases to name a few!!!! Ribbons: Ribbon is one of the most cost effective ways to jazz up an old item of clothings. In our ribbon range we carry over 1000 different variations in ribbon. These include satin ribbon, chiffon ribbon, grosgrain ribbon, bulk satin ribbon, tartan ribbons and gingham ribbons. This is just a small example of our ribbons range!!!! Scissors: All good dressmakers need a trusty pair of scissors. Here at Calico Laine in our shops and warehouse we use the fiskars scissors. Over the years we have found these to be the best for cutting fabric. We don't just stock fiskars though, we also have Janome scissors. Janome do a great selection of scissors that cater for all budgets. Self Cover Buttons: These little gems can really finish off your creation. You can use pretty much any dress fabric with these, making them very versatile. These also come in a great choice of sizes, from 11mm up to 38mm. There is also a choice between metal and nylon (plastic) in these. Sequins: Our range of sequins are elasticated and come sold by the metre. These are great for use on costumes for dance or ice skating for example. Sewing Accessories: This section on the site is one of the most comprehensive. As a sewer there is real abundance of small sewing accessories that are essential to your sewing kit. Things like needles, threads, pins and tape measures to name a few. Here at Calico Laine we have 60 different types of sewing accessories. Sewing Kits: If you prefer to order a ready to use sewing kit, then we can also help. We have a variety of different kits to choose from. These include everyday sewing essentials plus a holiday sewing kit!!!! Shoulder Pads: These little beauties have made a real come back this year. At Calico Laine we offer shoulder pads sold as pairs and also in bulk bags. Our selection of shoulder pads are available in black or white. Tapes: Cotton tapes have many uses and at Calico Laine we stock a good selection of cotton tapes. These tapes are available in black or white and in widths from 12mm up to 25mm. Some of our tapes come in bulk reels as well. Threads: We stock the complete range of Gutermann and Moon threads. Both of these threads are very popular here. Our selection of threads vary from sew all threads through to big overlocking threads. We also stock all cotton threads and embroidery threads. Toy Components: This section on the site is fairly new to us. Our range of toy components are great fun to use when making or creating toys. They also offer fantatsic value for money as well. Velcro and Sew and Stick Products: Velcro is just the brand name for what we all know as sew and stick. It really is a great product and has many applications. Over the years velcro and sew and stick products have both really expanded their respective ranges. For me personally, the heavy duty velcro really is one of the best products they offer. Once it's stuck down there really is no removing it!!!! Vilene Products: Another must have when making and creating your own clothes. Vilene products add the unseen finishing touches. At Calico Laine we offer both branded and none branded Vilene Products. Zips: By far and away zips really are our best sellers here at Calico Laine. We stock a whole host of different types of zips including two ways zips, open end zips, metal open end zips and dress zips. We offer both YKK zips and also none branded zips.
