Here at Calico Laine we have recently just taken delivery of a number of Dressmaking Fabrics that have a stretch to them. These fabrics are perect for dressmaking and once made up can look stunning. So in today's blog I will talk about the range of stretch fabrics that we have and some of their possible uses.
- Stretch Satin: This fabric has only been in stock just over a week and is already establishing itself as a top selling dressmaking fabric. This satin is 140cm wide and made in Indonisia. It is also available in 6 colours at present. The great thing about using this satin for dressmaking is that it has ''body hugging'' properties and can really fit well when made. Ideal to make into dresses, skirts and tops
- Lycra Jersey: This range of stretch jersey fabrics can only be described as stunning. The fabrics have an excellent weight to them and drape and fall extremley well. Any one of these fabrics would make a beautiful evening dress or prom dress. These fabrics have a composition of 80% polyester and 20% lycra making them a truly exotic fabric to wear. Available in 8 colours at present. They are 150cm wide and made in Japan.
