I really enjoy dressmaking and have spend many happy hours working on new dresses and skirts. It just so happens working here at Calico Laine I also get access to some amazing new fabrics as soon as they arrive! In my entry today I am going to go through some of my favourite dressmaking fabrics and try to highlight why I like using them so much. I hope you enjoy :-)
- Double Knit Jersey: This is a beautiful fabric that I have used many times. It makes up wonderfully well and wash superbly. At 150cm wide it is perfect width for dressmaking with. This season we have some new Marl colours to this range.
- Duchess Satin: One of , if not the most popular dressmaking material available. Duchess Satin is so popular and as soon as you feel it you know why. It is a heavy matt fabric that is also 150cm wide. This year there are over 20 colours available.
- Taffeta:  A German made material, taffeta has made a real come back of late. I have in the past teamed taffeta up with a satin fabric to give my dresses an added look of sophistication.
