When deciding to make your own dress or skirt one of the first things you think about is what type of fabrics are you going to use? Here at Calico Laine we can make that decision a lot easier.  With the summer months now on us and for the lucky few summer holidays just around the corner,  there has never been a better time to start planning your summer outfits. Although summer time offers a great chance to make lovely summery dresses,  all seasons are catered for here at Calico Laine. Listed below I have gone into a little more detail about the range of Dressmaking Fabrics that we now have:
  • Jersey Fabrics:  These fabrics are great all year round. We offer a couple of different variety's in jersey fabrics. The latest addition to the jersey fabrics we offer are the viscose jerseys, these are ideal for summer evening dresses as they really do hug your body well.
  • Taffeta: A beautiful fabric that looks stunning when made up. This range of fabrics are made in Germany and are 150cm wide. A great range of colours are available in this collection as well, with new colours having just been added in the last seven days.
  • Sheer Fabrics: One of my personal favourites for the suumer, sheer fabrics are an absolute must for any summer wardrobe. One of the best fabrics in this range are the two tone cationic chiffons. This range of fabrics change colour as the light catches them, making for a stunning dress when made.
  • Satin Fabrics: The classic dressmakers fabric, satin fabrics are the staple choice for dressmakers the world over. At Calico Laine we offer a great selection of satin fabrics ranging from duchesses satins through to the economy satin.
