In todays blog I'm going to talk a little about a selection of fabrics we sell really well here at Calico Laine. Our range of Animal Print Fabrics have been really popular this year and with good reason too. This year has seen something of a revival for Animal Prints; with Bags, Coats, Shoes, Jackets and Leggings all being designed in Faux Animal Prints.
Here at Calico Laine we have two different types of Animal Prints Fabrics. We have a long pile Faux Fur Fabric and a shorter pile Velboa Skin Fabric. In my experience of Dressmaking the shorter pile Velboa Skins are best used for Dressmaking. The long pile Faux Fur Fabrics can be used for Dressmaking but it's more suited for fancy dress costumes. The Velboa Skins are much easier to work with for making everyday clothes and accessories.
Both the Veboa Skins and the Faux Fur Fabrics are 150cm wide and made from 100% polyester. All of our Animal Print fabrics are man made and faux (fake) animal prints. We have a great selection of animal prints that include Cow Prints, Cheetha Prints, Dalmatian Prints, Leopard Prints and Tiger Prints to name a few in the Velboa range. In the Faux Fur Fabric we have Aligator Prints, Cow Prints, Bumblebee Prints and Ocelot Prints. Both of these fabrics represent a real trend in todays fashion. Evidence of this has been seen in the high street this year and will continue into next year!!!
Carrying on from what I said above about Faux Animal Prints being very fashionable, have you ever thought about creating your own item of clothing or a unique accessory? With the high street often all being the same it can sometimes be more rewarding to make your own clothes and accessories. If you have made any of your own clothes using our fabrics why not share them with other like minded people on our facebook page?
I hope you have enjoyed this blog. If you have any comments or feedback please feel free to contribute,
Until next time,
Calico Laine
